the military alone and not the Colonial Civil Department.
The Colonial Government, however, has been perfectly aware that the order in question did not and could not contravene or in any way affect special instructions of the War Office.
The Military Authorities could even regard the order as not affecting the action of the Colonial Government.
The Major General has therefore informed the Secretary of State for War, that he considers the late conduct of the Colonial Government to have been grossly and truculently obstructive to public business.
A copy of the Major General's letter is enclosed.
I am directed to add that it is not the intention of the Major General to reply to any further communication from the Colonial Government on this subject.
